Here is my current canvas on my easel. Michael Dunlop riding the Suzuki GSXR Superbike to victory in the 2017 Isle of Man Senior TT. This image shows the pencil line, underpainting line and then the first stage of painting, getting the colour down all over the canvas.

Here si a quick Vlog Update about my Michael Dunlop 2016 Isle of Man Senior TT and Jenny Tinmouth 2016 BSB oil paintings. Plus a little information about my ‘How to Draw’ videos.
I have now completed ‘The Bull’ Michael Dunlop and ‘just’ have the Buildbase BMW S1000RR Superbike to go on his 2016 Senior TT winning oil painting. Oh and a few Manx flies to add to his Arai Helmet. The detail of the helmet by Rage Designs is below the work in progress so far.
About to catch up on ‘Britain’s Lost Masterpieces’ presented by Dr Bendor Grosvenor and Jackie Klein on the BBC iPlayer while working on my Michael Dunlop Isle of Man TT oil painting 🖌🎨🇮🇲🏁😃

This Vlog is a question to Winsor & Newton in regards of their artist oils range of wonderful paints.
Yesterday I painted the left arm of Michael Dunlop’s leathers on my oil painting of him fro the 2014 Isle of Man TT on which he made history for BMW by winning for them for the first time in 75 years at the world famous TT races.
I used Cobalt Blue along with Ultramarine and a few other colours and I work alla prima most of the time to get the detail I require but when I came to put more Cobalt blue paint on my pallete to do Michael’s right boot a lot of oil came out and not the ‘cream cheese’ I am used to painting with. This also has happened with Winsor Lemon and my Ivory Black. This very oily paint stopped me from doing the detail that I normally achieve with your excellent paints.
I can’t think that this is normal so I am looking forward to Winsor & Newton letting me know why this is happening and if it will stop or if I have some dud paint.
Quick Vlog about my painting Michael Dunlop on the BMW S1000 RR at the 2014 Isle of Man TT and some info about the Turps I use. Plus a little about our chickens and the Daily thorns and thistles in my studio!
15 years of constant adding certainly takes a fair amount of time to sort out and clean up. But if you compare yesterdays ‘in progress’ post and photo of the clear up you can now see I have a clean studio with a floor I can see and I can get my easel in that was a present from my lovely wife.
So first on the easel is the painting of Michael Dunlop from his historic 2014 Isle of Man TT wins on the BMW. After that I have a clear run at my other motorcycle racing, British Touring car art and other projects as I can now get to my desk for drawing and an easel for painting. Fun months ahead. Now though off to walk the Poochie amongst ‘Dad Taxi’ duties and ‘The Shed’ in for its MOT so a little relaxed day after more than a weeks worth of major clearing out. I recommend it to anyone.
Got the post TT Road Race Blues? While I am starting work on a number of 2014 TT paintings, including Michael Dunlop on the beastial BMW S1000RR, here is a reminder of a mural I did for fun at The Red Lion Country Inn in Checkley, Staffordshire. Just a simple slideshow that shows the work in progress and the fantastic culinary art produced there by Ash. Well worth a visit for a meal or two, or three, or four…
